Crowns of Courage

The Crowns of Courage project celebrates women fighting cancer.  Over the course of a year, 22 women undergoing cancer treatment visited my studio for temporary henna tattoos, professional makeup, and a photo session.   The project was critically acclaimed and was a top five popular vote finalist for this prestigious ArtPrize 9 event.  After Artprize 9, the artwork was on display at the Lemmen Holton Cancer Center atrium from May  2018 to August 2019.  The Crowns of Courage display will have a new home later this year.  Watch for details my blog.  Henna tattoos by Amanda Gilbert and Steve Stone; makeup by Jessica Renusson and Tara Pennington.  All photographs ©2016-2017 Dave Burgess, Ada MI 49301.
